The University of Studies of Foggia has displaced its activities in different structures, one for each Faculty. The central administrative pole has changed center in 2004. From the elegant old Building of Justice, in fact, it has been moved to a modern structure, the Athenaeum of Via Gramsci, inaugurated in October 2004, in the presence of political and institutional representatives. The ex Court is the seat of the Faculty of Law, and of the Presidency and the Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics of the Faculty of Economics. From 2005 this last has been, in fact, moved to the ancient Deposit of Cavalli Stalloni. The architectural complex dates back to 1915. It was founded by decree luogotenenziale to comply with a disposition of the Government of 1861 whose aim was to increase the equestrian culture for military demands. The structure served to furnish the army with horses. The deposit was the eighth, among the deposits of Stallions, to be constituted in Italy. Inaugurated in 1931, it extended on a surface of 22 hectares among stables and tracks of gallop. At the beginning it was under the rule of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and afterwards under that of Regions. The actual acquisition of the University has allowed to intervene with works of restauration and furnishing, bringing the old place to shine again. The new Great Hall of Athenaeum is a magnificent auditorium with parquet floor that spreads on a huge surface. Endowed with around 600 places to sit, the Great Hall is also provided with all the technological tools for the best organization and the carrying out of conferences and events, the video streaming server and the audio-video mixer controller for the analogical and digital recording. The housebuilding and furnishing activities of the Great Hall have been just completed for the inauguration of the past Academic Year, on 7th March 2005, in the presence of Pier Ferdinando Casini, President of the Chamber of Deputies.
